Kitty Sings Blossom

Blossom Dearie was born in 1924, New York and over her lifetime became a celebrated singer, pianist and composer of the bebop era. She was made famous by her high sweet voice, bebop stylings and her moving lyrical story telling. For this performance Kitty will be looking at her early solo records on Verve featuring classic American Standards "Thou Swell," "It Might as Well Be Spring," and "I Won’t Dance." 

 

Kitty Whitelaw is a Scottish Jazz Vocalist currently based in London. Last year she made her official debut at the EFG London Jazz Festival. She has sung in some of the world's most prestigious theatres & music venues in London, Paris, Berlin and Singapore. In London she has performed at Wilton's Music Hall (The Oldest Music Hall in the World) Cafe de Paris, The Bullshead Barnes, The Hippodrome Casino, EARTH Hackney, Union Chapel. Her music has been played on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 6.
