Painted Blind

17th November 2016

20th November 2016

A physical retelling of Shakespeare’s love stories, with all of the feeling, heartbreak and turmoil of the original characters on the page – blindfolded. “Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind and therefore is winged cupid painted blind.”

Launched as part of ACTION TO THE WORD’s Catford-upon-Avon Festival earlier this year, this inventive piece is a celebration of the 400th anniversary, with a difference. With all of the feeling, heartbreak and turmoil of the original characters on the page – Painted Blind is an accessible and beautifully choreographed demonstration of Shakespeare’s transcendent way with words.

Artfully complemented by an original soundtrack from upcoming musician Ned Roberts - this is no frills contemporary dance, suitable for all and not to be missed.

Directed and Choreographed by Maddy Mutch (Creative Associate Action to the Word, Sell A Door Theatre Co.)

Starring Jonno Davies (Kingsman Marv Films, Shakespeare in Love Noel Coward Theatre, Dracula, A Clockwork Orange Action To The Word) and Rebecca Collingwood (Much Ado About Nothing/ Love Labour’s Lost RSC, Widower’s Houses Orange Tree Theatre, Shakespeare’s Fire BBC).

Praise for Maddy Mutch:

“Beautifully crafted choreography…a visual feast. The only disappointment was that it ended.” Broadway Baby
