A war-blasted landscape. A mysterious tree. A wounded fighter, a lost woman, a child soldier with no common language. A cynical translator holds the key to their survival. Who will escape and at what price?
Chaskis Theatre presents the UK premiere of MOTHERGUN - a short play by award-winning playwright Christine Evans.
Originally from Australia, Christine Evans is an internationally produced playwright now resident in the U.S. Her recent productions include, You Are Dead. You Are Here. at StreetSigns, NC; Slow Falling Bird at Georgetown’s Davis Centre for the Performing Arts and the University of San Francisco; Trojan Barbie at StreetSigns, NC; and the world premiere of Can’t Complain with Spooky Action Theater for the Women’s Voice Festival in Washington, DC.
She has been awarded the Australia Council for the Arts New Work Award, a Rockefeller Bellagio Centre Fellowship, the 2009 Playwrights Theatre “Plays for the 21st Century” Award and Perishable Theatre’s Women’s Playwriting Award (2000 and 2001) among others. Christine is a Core Member of the Playwrights’ Centre of Minneapolis, a Women’s Project Playwrights’ Lab alum and member of the Dramatists Guild.
